Using PEX tubing and fittings
Working with PEX tubing and fittings is by far the easiest plumbing connections to make. There are a multitude of different types of PEX tubing and fittings on the market but all of them will do the same job as long as they’re rated for potable water.
Homeowners should consider using the cinch ring method of joining PEX, because the tool is relatively inexpensive to buy and it will work on different sizes of pipe.
Using the PEX cinch tool
- Begin by cutting the PEX tubing squarely.
- Place the proper size cinch ring over the tubing.
- Insert the PEX fitting.
- Using the PEX cinch tool, place the tab of the ring into the fully opened tool and slide the ring to 1/8″ from the fitting shoulder.
- Completely close the cinch tool until it releases and you will have a leak free joint every time.
